If you are just getting interested in climbing, chances are you're feeling a little overwhelmed. Never mind coming to grips with the vertical world - you can't even understand half of what your more experienced friends are talking about. There are new terms and slang that develop on a near-weekly basis, and each subset of climbing culture has its own very technical definitions that outsiders rarely hear. Nevertheless, this list will get you off the ground. This article is intended to give you, the new members of the club, some hints and tips and help you get started in the club. The Mountaineering club is one of the biggest clubs within the AU, signing up 100+ new members at the start of each new year, so the first few weeks are going to be pretty hectic, both for you and for us as the committee members.
